Project Owner: San Diego Hospice and the Institute for Palliative Medicine (SDHIPM)

Project Role

  • Collaborated with SME to conduct a needs analysis and develop appropriate learning interventions, designed and developed training.

Project Purpose

  • Research and analyze the cause of the performance problem, and identify barriers or drivers to the ideal performance.
  • Develop new educational material to teach social workers the appropriate process for collaborating and communicating with the Volunteer Resources department and SDHIPM volunteers.

Project Goals

  • Describe the volunteer resources available for patient care.
  • Identify when a patient qualifies for a volunteer.
  • How to document and task a volunteer request.
  • Improve oral and written communication between social workers and volunteers.

  • Social workers
  • Volunteer Resource staff

Project Deliverables

  • e-Learning course (45 minute)
    • A comprehensive assessment that requires 80% of the answers correct to pass
    • e-Learning is SCORM and LMS accessible
